Salut, Kneaders~♡ I know it’s not easy to bake castella from home. This is a must-see video for people who always flatten their castella’s top.
I made the maximum size castella that you could possibly bake from home. It was a hit in Korea as ‘daepan’ castella, or ‘dansui’ castella, and some different names. If you haven’t tried this yet, make sure you watch this video and try yourself at home! The texture is so soft and so delicious with the cream. There’s a part in the video where I gift wrap them too, so make sure you watch till the end of the video :) There is a way to make it even bigger, but not with the normal household oven that people usually have. So I adjusted the recipes for easy use. If you struggle with castella, stay focused till the end. Thank you! :)

Ingredients
Cake Flour 250g
Cooking Oil 250g
Whole Milk 250g
Eggs 15ea
Vanilla Extract 1/2teaspoon
Sugar 320g
Salt 6g

Whipping Cream 200g
Sugar 20g

Tips
1. A pre-heat oven is ALWAYS necessary for home baking.
2. The result may be different depending on your oven. My recipes are only for the guide. Please check your oven temperature with a single baking thermometer.
3. Baking time may vary for every oven.
4. You could use vanilla extract or rum.
5. If your oven is too small, the top side could be too dark at the end. Cover the top with a foil sheet after 13 minutes of baking.
6. Turn the pans occasionally for even color on the top at the last minutes of the baking time.
7. Once the baking is done, take out the pan and smack it on a table so the excessive moisture could escape from the bread.
